Management Consultant (CMC) designation, a registered
certification mark issued by the US PTO. Certification by
IMC USA is the designation of excellence among management consulting
professionals.
CMC Global Recognition
and Reciprocity - The CMC is recognized by and accorded
international reciprocity within the thirty-six member
countries of the International
Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). Twenty five thousand consultants from
around the world have been awarded the CMC by
one of the certifying institutes that make up the ICMCI.
The ICMCI
was established in 1987 to advance worldwide management
consultant certification. Less than 1% of practicing
consultants have achieved this designation.
Certification
The initials CMC following a consultant's name means
that he or she has met strict certification requirements
in accordance to the global standards set by ICMCI.
Every step leading to the CMC designation is designed
to verify the candidate's professional competence and
adherence to ethical practices. The certification process
is rigorous and conforms with international standards:
Experience - Five years
in practice as a full-time consultant, with major
management responsibility
Education - Degree from a four-year
college
References - Five satisfactory references
from officers or executives of client organizations
Engagements - Written summaries and
discussion with panel of five client assignments
Application - Written response to
an engagement case study and presentation to a panel
Competence - Qualifying written
examination and oral review
by senior CMCs to demonstrate your professional competence
and currency in areas of specialization, application
of experience, and understanding of the management
consulting process and common body of knowledge
Ethics - Written examination and
oral interview on the IMC Code of Ethics and ethical
aspects of consulting.
Recertification
Consultants must be recertified every three years to maintain
the CMC designation.
