Professional Development Workshops and Seminars

In addition to its monthly evening programs, IMC NCR offers several opportunities for professional development of its members.

Quarterly IMC NCR professional development workshops

IMC NCR regularly conducts half-day workshops in current topics of interest to management consultants, covering issues in more depth than could be addressed in our monthly evening programs: Last year's topics included:

Business simulation (Winter 2002)

Introduction to Management Consulting (Summer 2002)

Proposal writing and competitive intelligence (Fall 2002)

Leadership development (Winter 2002)

What a dynamite program. It was my intro to proposal writing for the government. What a wonderful way to start off. I found Joe's waxing technique a real keeper. That technique is a first for me.

National Conferences

IMC sponsors the two principal conferences for management consultants each year. The spring conference coincides with the IMC USA annual business meeting and focuses on general business operations and consulting techniques. The fall Confab, held in Reno, NV each year, aims at the senior consultant and focuses on practice management.

Management Consulting: Dream Job or Worst Nightmare

Next scheduled for March 2003 at George Washington University's Graduate School of Business, this workshop offers new consultants, or professionals considering a career in consulting, a quick, easy, and affordable way to assess the feasibility of a management-consulting career. Filled with practical information and taught by experienced independent consultants; the seminar helps participants understand if management consulting is the right "fit" for them. Through a comprehensive curriculum and self-assessment, including provided reference materials, participants learn the answers to:

What is management consulting?

What are the pros and cons of a consulting career?

What skills do I need to succeed?

Is consulting "right" for me?

How do I get started?
